The closer tip openings (X0, X5, X10) generally require a slightly harder reed set-up than the more open tips (X10, X10E, X15E, X25E). The combination of closer tip opening and harder reed can give a more centred, solid tone. Whereas, the slighlty more open tip and softer reed can offer a broader tonal range with a differing resistance feel.
