Beautuful Fully Serviced Buffet Crampon RC Bb Clarinet in Excellent Condition. Please note, the clarinet came to me with a split to the upper joint which I have painstakingly repaired and sealed. The split is extremely hard to see and the chances are, you would never even notice it. It does not effect play in the slightest and remains one of the most beautiful sounding clarinets I have ever playedI have nevertheless reflected this in the price Approx age of manufacture, was mid-eighties, so made at a time before mass marketing when quality came before quantity. The RC as any player will tell you, is an outstanding professional level clarinet.
On par with, and even considered more beautiful than the classic Buffet R13. The RC is famous for it's warm, sweet, round sound, and evolved from the classic Buffet BC20 model. The sheer beauty of the RCs tone will take your breath away. Even the E13 has its roots, not in the R13, but in the RC. The silver plated keys and pillars are completely in tact with no plating wear that I could detect anywhere.Again, this is indicative of the quality of these classic clarinets. True this clarinet gained a split, but I've completely stabilised it, so it will not get any worse.
It's more likely that a new instrument will split. With mass production, there simply isn't the quality aged African blackwood out there. Therefore, manufacturing techniques have had to change. Immature wood of about 15-20 years which is then artificially hardened in an oven making it unstable and much more likely to crack. Indeed, I know someone who's Tosca top joint cracked twice.Even the top of range instruments are made this way. The RC is a jewel in the Buffet crown and despite the repaired crack, this is still an outstanding clarinet that will hold its value.
I was lucky enough to have learnt at a time when knowing how the clarinet functioned, was an integral part of learning how to play it, and I can tell you that selecting a decent clarinet is extremely difficult. In this instance, I've done the hard part of repairing, adjusting and test playing. Anyone who plays this clarinet will love it from the outset and should immediately hear the difference compared to what they have been used to. Priced at around the price of a new Buffet Crampon E11, I would choose this RC any day! If you're looking for an outstanding pro level clarinet post Grade 6, Music College, and a professional career, then this clarinet is for you.
You'll need to select your own mouthpiece, but I've tried the Vandoren B45, B40, 5RV and 11.6, all of which play well with this clarinet, but if you're really stuck, I'll include one.
