Backun Bb Register Silver Tube. Backun custom solid silver register and thumb tubes are made of a special alloy silver (not the typical sterling silver) that has been custom drawn and hardened to a precise temper. The difference with these tubes is very significant from ones machined out of nickel-silver or brass. After installing them in many instruments being played by exceptional artists, the reaction is typically a profound amazement at the difference in resonance and freedom of airflow.
One common comment is that the upper register control is much improved. Since there is no plating to wear, the tube feels better and does not materially change over time or with use. The Solid Silver Register and Thumb Tubes are suitable only for the following Backun Custom clarinets in the key of B-flat and A.
